Help the Hero's 24hr relay June 2010

With the massive success for the Poole Wheelers team in this years children in need event, I would just like to know who would be interested in being involved in a road relay on a closed out door circuit in Birmingham in June 2010. Its only in its infancy stage at the moment but Birmingham Council has given permission for the event to go ahead.Again the BBC will be covering the event and i feel it would be very good for the profile of the Wheelers.

Let me know any ideas or if you are interested

Results Update & Trophy Quest.

Ive completed a few enhancements and an end of season tidy up to the PW Results Service. The new features include the following

(i) In the Riders Stats the best rated section now includes a new option to include all rides except hill climbs (second option in drop down list).

(ii) In the Club Stats Best Rated section there are three new course type options of best rated 10, best rated 25 and best rated 50 (options 6, 7 & 8 in drop down list).

(iii) In the Course Stats there is a new section for PW Averages. So you can now see how your average time for a course compares with your fellow Poole Wheelers.

(iv) In the Club Competitions Other there is a new section for the Hill Climb Championship going back to 2004. This also means that each individuals result in this championship will appear in their Rider Stats Competition Totals.

The other changes are

(v) Handicap ratings for next years Handicap League and Handicap Ten League.

(vi) All the 2009 trophy winners added.

On the subject of trophy winners I tried last year to complete all the gaps in our history with limited success. Therefore if anyone can help with the following queries it would be gratefully appreciated. For a missing year I need to know the winner or equally important if the trophy wasnt awarded for that year.

Middle Distance Post 2004, 1996 and pre 1994 (if it existed then). Ideally I would also like to know the average speed for all winners.

Senior Best All Rounder/Club Championship Trophy 2007, 1996 and pre 1994(if it existed then). Again I would also like to know average speed for all winners.

Veterans Best All Rounder Trophy Pre 2002 (if it existed then) and again average speed for all winners.

Handicap Trophy 2005, 2004 and pre 1997

Hill Climb Trophy - pre 1994

Cyclo Cross Trophy 2007, 2005, 2004, 1996 and pre 1994

Touring Trophy 2008 (Im guessing it was Paul Dytham) and pre 1997

Best Improver 1996 and pre 1994(if it existed then)

Best Novice 2000, 1999, 1998, 1996 (think it might have been me), and pre 1994 (if it existed then)

Senior Track & Junior Track only have winners for 2009, 2008, 1995 & 1994, so lots of missing years.

What are you planning next year?

Spoke Lights

I have just been into Tesco's in Castle Lane to find that they have a new supply of Spoke Lights at 8.00 for 2. As some of you may be aware from the wednesday nights ride that these lights are very bright and can be seen by cars approaching you from the side.

If anybody wants me to pick some up for them i will be more than be happy to.

Better be safe than sorry.

Well today three Poole Wheelers took to the boards, Mark, Gordon and Me. Thanks for the lift Dave (also a very safe driver).

Back to the racing Mark continued his winning ways with an emphatic victory in the Points race. I managed to clock a couple in the sprint and unknown distance and Gordon rode with a 'coupe de panache' with a victory in the final scratch race narrowly slipping through his fingers.

Anyway good effort by everyone I think Mark will still be winning the league although has to said that William Macke did close the gap a bit.

I won't be able to get their next week but I'm sure Gordon and Mark are upto the task and improving every ride.

any information on what to use as a lubricant when fitting a carbon seat post to an ali. frame to prevent seizing . I`ve read somewhere that some lubricants are taboo.

Apart from my passion of cycling for BJW (you may have overtaken me in the EDCA series and Hillclimbs over the last 5 years!) I have a passion for music.

I have a group made up mostly of cyclists who have been in various bands down the years. Hence our name Lanterne Rouge and we are a 6 piece.
We have our first public gig at the Winchester The Triangle Bournemouth part of solid Air 16.11.09 and are on stage 8.15.

4 way traffic controlled lights on Sandbanks Road

I was out on my bike this afternoon and started off by heading down to Sandbanks.
Since last Thursday there has been 4 way traffic controlled lights on Sandbanks Road, at the junction of Lilliput Road.
Going towards Sandbanks, there is no way past them, even in the cycle lane.
Just thought I'd give a bit of pre warning, what with club night being tomorrow.

I am after some advice, I put a notice up Sunday about Turbo Trainers.
I am after opinions on which one to get. Admittedly they are at the bottom end of the market, but should suit my needs. The 2 are;

CycleOps Fluid 2 Turbo Trainer or
Elite Crono Fluid Elasto Gel Trainer

Hi all

I am selling a Scott CR1 Pro 2009, hated it since March, and have been looking at Computrainer as a valuable training aid for long distance Ironman racing. I've had discussions with a few people on the benefits of training with wattage. Does anyone own one and if so, is there any advice you can offer?
